Former IELI student excelling in his studies at USC

Read about how Juwon Choi benefited from his IELI class experience.

Juwon Choi attended ESL classes at the IELI two years ago.  At that time, his dream was to stay in America and attend college.  He applied to various universities in the United States and was accepted to the University of Southern California, where he is now an accounting major with a 3.8 GPA.

In addition to being a college student, Juwon also works full time at the prestigious Ernst & Young accounting firm.  This accomplishment is very satisfying to him, especially since English is not his first language.

Juwon is an alumni of Michele Thomas' theatre class.  While Juwon studied at the IELI, he really enjoyed attending Michele's class.  In fact, he attributes some of his interviewing success directly to her class.  During an interview, he related the group work activities he had done for that class and the interviewer was impressed.  More importantly though, his self confidence was greatly strengthened because of the theatre class.  "After taking her class, I became more confident to speak with native speakers and in interview situations.  When I reminisce about those days in her class...it was a wonderful experience. I am so happy that I took her class."
